Building Information Modeling (BIM)
BIM (Building Information Modeling) is the process of creating 3D models for coordination among other trades to reduce conflicts and coordinate designs and installation. BIM is usually defined by a LOD (level of development) in which the modeling is to be executed and a BEP (BIM Execution Plan) which will govern the design software, design software years, customer requirements, etc. The models we work in are typically LOD 350-LOD 500. LOD 400 is considered “fabrication ready geometry”. When the model is LOD 400 we are able to prefabricate all of our conduit, hangers, gear, etc. directly from the model which reduces labor and overall construction costs. Lea Electric also offers BIM services to other contractors.
